bipolar Courage: Are You sure you're not autistic?
Bipolar Courage: Are You Sure You're Not Autistic? by Xanthe Wyse was awarded a Red Ribbon by The Wishing Shelf Book Awards.
A compelling, unconventional love story about some of the behind-the-scenes drama during Xanthe's advocacy journey as Bipolar Courage. With focus on a complicated friendship with mutual attraction and clashes with another advocate, 'Maxwell', an autistic guy. He asked Xanthe: 'Are you sure you're not autistic?' Kept light and entertaining, despite some challenging and potentially triggering themes. Insights about mental health and autism spectrum (including childhood features) sprinkled along the way. Available from Amazon (paperback and ebook) and major ebook distributors. Nearly full 3 chapters can be read with the 'read sample' option (near the cover) on Amazon. Pet Purpose
Pet Purpose: Your Unspoken Voice is semiautobiographical fiction written as the author was processing trauma. She was able to give an accurate portrayal, reliving the intensity, drawing from her experiences.
Heni is a 'rescuer' - of pets and men. That's where the cliché ends. Nothing is predictable with bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). An intense, passionate read. This book highlights the experience of relationships with bipolar mania while attempting to resolve trauma. Mature themes. Available on Amazon as paperback and ebook. Also available on other major ebook distributors. Nearly 3 full chapters can be read free on Amazon ('read sample' by cover). Book reviews for Pet Purpose. |
Books about relationships with disabilities
Xanthe Wyse currently writes about relationships with disabilities, inspired by her experiences. Not saccharine romance stories but instead raw, gritty, intense and passionate themes (injected with colourful humour and drama).
Bipolar Courage (memoir) was published in September 2023 and Soar Purpose (sequel novel to Pet Purpose) will hopefully be published by 2025. Pet Purpose: Your Unspoken Voice (semiautobiographical novel) was a number 1 bestseller in biographical fiction on Amazon during a free promotion. Not bad for an indie author, aye? |
Indie author
Xanthe choose self-publishing as an independent (indie) author from the beginning, as she didn't want her voice altered nor to have the pressure of deadlines. Plus, she has previously worked part-time as an assistant for a traditional publishing company. So she knows that route is expensive and slow (and generally only picked up by those popular on social media).
Her books were published from New Zealand, with the first copies of each book being purchased from the USA. Although Xanthe didn't sell high volume with her books on a shoe-string budget, Pet Purpose was bought by readers in over a dozen countries. Both books went temporarily to number one in categories during a promotion (hundreds of copies of each book were downloaded in a few days).

Supporting an indie author
Book ratings and reviews by genuine readers are always appreciated. Fake, malicious ratings by trolls and bullies have a huge impact on an independent author. Genuine reviews can help drown those out.
